RBI to issue New 10 rs notes of Chocolate brown color with Konark Sun Temple at Back

After the big Indian notes, now it's time for 10 rupee note to get a new makeover. According to reports, the Reserve Bank of India is all set to issue new Rs 10 notes under the Mahatma Gandhi series with chocolate brown colour as the base.

According to News18, around 1 billion pieces of the new 10 rupee note has already been printed by the apex bank. Last week itself the new design was approved by the government. The old Rs 10 note was last redesigned in 2005.

In August, 2017, new Rs 50 and Rs 200 notes were introduced in the Mahatma Gandhi series. In order to get rid of counterfeiting and promote a less-cash economy, the move to reintroduce lower denomination notes in a new design was made.

At 10 pm on November 8, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that on the stroke of midnight, all 500 and 1,000 rupee notes -- 86 per cent of the currency in circulation -- would cease to become legal tender.

Up to that point, upwards of 95 per cent of all transactions in India were conducted in cash and 90 per cent of vendors didn't have the means to accept anything. On top of this, 85 per cent of workers were paid exclusively in cash and almost half of the population didn't even have bank accounts.

Demonetisation proved to be a major disruption in the Indian economy and brought great hardship to people who spent hours in the serpentine queue to get Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes exchanged or deposited in their bank accounts.

Later, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in its Annual Report for 2016-17 that 99 per cent of the junked Rs 500 and 1,000 notes were returned to the banking system. This led many, including Opposition leaders. questioning the very logic of demonetisation.

An estimated Rs 15.4 lakh crore worth old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes had been demonetised on November 8. But, return of about 99 per cent demonetised currency to banks does not necessarily makes demonetisation a failure.

However, beyond the political statements, even those made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers, there are several effects of demonetisation that may augur well for the economy in the long run.

1 Rs Note - 2017 (RBI to issue new 1 rupee note, old note also valid)

The Reserve Bank of India will soon circulate one rupee notes while the existing notes and coins will also continue.

The new notes, which have been printed by the government, will be pink-green in colour with the representation of the one rupee coin on the reverse of the note.

“These currency notes are legal tender as provided in The Coinage Act 2011,” RBI said in a release.

The new notes will bear the bilingual signature of economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das.

This move comes after the government introduced new Rs 500 and Rs 2000 notes in November, last year as part of its demonetisation drive.

The Government of India has minted the above mentioned coins which the Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation. The design details of these coins as notified in The Gazette of India-Extraordinary- Part II-Section 3-Sub-section (i) – G.S.R.191(E) dated February 23, 2016 issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, New Delhi are as follows— Obverse- The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "भारत" in Devanagri script and on the right periphery with the word "INDIA" in English, and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “5" in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. Reverse- The face of the coin shall bear the image, depicting “Center façade of Allahabad High Court Building emerging from the book”. The inscription “इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय का 150 वां वार्षिकोत्सव” in Devanagri script and “150th ANNIVERSARY OF ALLAHABAD HIGH COURT" shall be written on top and bottom periphery respectively on this face of the coin. The year 1866-2016 in English numerals shall be written at the bottom of the image. These coins are legal tender as provided in The Coinage Act 2011. RBI to Issue of 10 Rs banknotes with improved security features

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue ₹ 10 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 with inset letter 'L' in both the number panels, bearing the signature of Dr. Urjit R. Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing ‘2017’ printed on the reverse of the banknote.

The numerals in both the number panels of these banknotes are in the ascending size from left to right while the first three alpha-numeric characters (prefix) remain constant in size.

All the Banknotes in the denomination of ₹ 10 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.
